About

Spectrum of Feminine Rage is a master's degree project by Juliette Matte-Breton in photographic installation. It offers a dip in the complex emotions that make up female rage, a contained anger that is unique to the experience of women. The work seeks to stimulate reflection on the status of women through popular images, slogans and references, directly mobilizing Western capitalist and patriarchal codes rather than trying to dissociate them. The project is based on writings in which the artist explores the experiences that nourish her female rage and the many links that she can make there, whether they come from popular music, cinema or other cultural imaginations. These writings become a raw material: they are used to develop concepts and create people who embody different facets of this anger, then staged in photographic works.
