La Charpente is wild and unfinished. It is a house with open walls, where infiltrate extravagance and chaos. *** We believe that the city of Quebec is full of artists and creators from a variety of disciplines, eager for encounters and exchanges. We believe that there is a burning or even visceral need for cultural spontaneity. We believe; that there is an urgent need for spaces dedicated to the sacred work of creation; that there is an urgent need for space to present marginal, alternative and vanguard proposals; There is an urgent need for spaces that actively accommodate marginalized groups because of their ethnocultural, identity and/or socio-economic status; that there is an urgent need for spaces for ostensibly transdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and even INDISCIPLINARY artists; that there is an urgent need for spaces that promote current forms, freed from the grip of the financial yoke of profitability; that there is an urgent need for spaces that are free from the fear of risk and free from the pre-established production and dissemination prerogatives; that there is an urgent need for a place in the image of the present, the rhythm, the madness and the creative desires of these artists; WE CHOOSE WHEN A URGENT NEEDS FOR AN OPEN SPACE. WE WANT TO ENTEND AND RESPOND TO THIS NEED.✳La Charpente is wild and unfinished. Who we are

La Charpente des fauves is a 14,000-square-foot space for multidisciplinary creation and presentation in the heart of Québec City. Since 2020, it has brought rehearsal spaces, creative residencies and a digital fabrication lab together under one roof, along with a programme of bold works presented in its performance hall since 2024. Artists have access to workspaces, equipment and a team offering technical, artistic and administrative support, from the research stage to encounters with audiences. La Charpente is part of the Les Fauves ecosystem, an organization whose three mandates—producing, supporting and presenting—reinforce one another every day in this shared space. Our approach is rooted in radical hospitality: welcoming people and projects with trust, generosity and care. In practice, we work to make artistic creation accessible, support artists and ensure that audiences and communities have a full place at La Charpente.
