Carnival Carnivore is the public and festive killing of poet-actor-performer Thomas Langlois by his own character, the Perce-Oreille. Fruit of a suffocating overaccumulation of intimate and social masks, the Perce-Oreille slowly devours its author in front of the public. This one-man show of slam, slam-theatre and performance attacks in particular the issues of anxiety disorders, toxic masculinity, as well as the trivialization of pornography and media violence, all presented under the metaphor of cannibalism. Inspired by humour, self-deteriority and vulnerability, Carnival Carnivore releases an explosion of oral poetry with percussive, sound, rhythmic language: texts that strike, bite and pierce the ear. The slam-theatre is a new theatrical genre developed by Thomas, to theatricalize the dramaturgic universe contained in the texts written for the slam, among others using the theatrical play techniques related to the body theatre, especially Meyerhold's biomechanical.
