Since 2020, Izabelle Desroches' interest in the territory and rooting has evolved as he travels, encouraging him to develop a project in connection with the Atacama Desert in Chile. In this project, she reflects on the concept of rooting out, focusing in particular on the inhabitants of the Atacama Desert, who live in extreme environmental conditions. Inspired by the deep roots of desert plants, it plans to create a suspended structure inspired by a root system seen from below. This mobile will include parcels of interlaced territory, composed of recovered and manufactured objects, plants, fabrics, wool, etc., reflecting the landscape and the people living in it. The project is divided into two parts: a field research part during a residence in the Atacama desert with the organization La Wayaka Current in October 2024, and a creative part, which will take place in Quebec City. It is within the framework of this second part, the creation, that Izabelle will benefit from the spaces of La Charpente des fauves for the implementation of its installation. The project is feasible thanks to the support of the Première Ovation measure under the Cultural Development Agreement between the Government of Quebec and the City of Quebec.
