Maintaining the material is an immersive audiovisual performance that explores the relationship in transformation between the artist and the digital medium. The project seeks to reduce the distance between the two — physically, in terms of presence, and in the quality of creative experience. At the heart of this approach is a tailored digital instrument, allowing real-time interaction with a virtual world through motion capture. This immediacy transforms the act of creation into a fluid and reactive process, where intuitive gestures influence the virtual world and guide the evolution of performance. By eliminating the usual layers between intent and result, the artist establishes a direct and incarnate dialogue with digital.
